Avon

Over the years, Avon has become a full-fledged town no longer defined solely by its close proximity to Vail and Beaver Creek Resort. Property values and numerous new developments reflect Avon's new status as the "down valley" center of business. Avon has "big" plans to become a more formidable village center and the gateway to skiing at Beaver Creek. A new public library and six million dollar Recreation Center offer numerous activities for residents. Both buildings are located on Nottingham Lake, providing a beautiful spot for residents to enjoy numerous recreational opportunities, parks and playgrounds.

With the new Recreation Center open, Nottingham Lake is complete with an indoor pool, water slide and fitness facility. All year long, families enjoy numerous outdoor pleasures. Paddleboats, fishing, in-line skating, beach volleyball and soccer fields beckon in the warmer months. Come winter, the log cabin rents ice skates for those who enjoy the thrill of outdoor skating on the lake. Be sure to check the calendar of events for the many special happenings at the lake, including Town of Avon's incredible Fourth of July fireworks display.

The Confluence
The new $500 million Riverfront Village project on the Confluence at Avon will include the Westin Riverfront Resort and Spa as the 19-acre parcel's centerpiece.  Featuring condominiums and vacation ownership residences, a full-service spa and fitness facility, restaurants, meeting space and underground parking, this will be Avon's first luxury resort.  An eight passenger high-speed gondola will transport skiers and snowboarders onto Beaver Creek Mountain via Beaver Creek Landing.  Its construction is set to begin this summer, 2006.The Riverfront Park will include 5.5 acres of riverside land for a serene public park.  Pedestrian walkways between the park and Avon's current town center, as well as Nottingham Park will make the new area easily accessible.

To be constructed alongside the Riverfront Village project will be a new main street with extensive shops and restaurants, as well as underground parking and new residential opportunities.  A new transportation hub will also be situated within easy walking distance to the new gondola.
