The Beaver Creek Food and Wine Weekend 2013 begins Jan. 24 with a Meet the Chefs reception from 6 to 9pm at the Black Diamond Bistro at The Charter in Beaver Creek and finishes up on Sunday, where the last event will be the Celebrity Chef Ski Race and Brunch at The Beaver Creek Chophouse. Saturday is the Grand Tasting from 7-10pm at Ford Hall at the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort. This is a fun-filled event with tons of positive energy. John Besh, who owns a handful of restaurants and has appeared on "Top Chef Masters", "Iron Chef America" and "The Food Network Challenge" said, "The setting just couldn't be any more perfect...getting up, getting a good workout on the mountain and then coming back and enjoying a gourmet meal - it's like heaven for me."

Behold the power of the power of Beaver Creek's Chocolate Chip Cookie Competition.. Oh and Beaver Creek Opening Day.
Today, at 2pm, skiers, strollers and shoppers alike will have the opportunity to sample 5 different chocolate chip cookies cooked by local bakers; the top cookies from 106 original entries. Judging starts at 2pm and lasts until the cookies are gone. The winners will be announced at 4pm from the Village Grand Staircase. Enjoy your tasting!
Sometimes it is almost impossible to remember all the entertainment and activities the Vail Valley has to offer. This time of year there are so many opportunities to see the very best there is in the country, starting with the Opening NIght of the Vail International Dance Festival tonight at the Ford Amphitheater at 6:30 pm. The opening event is Savion Glover who is considered the world's greatest tap dancer. He will perform again on Tuesday. In addition, the Vail Valley Foundation will present Edward Villella with the Miama City Ballet starting?August 3, and finally Wendy Whelan on August 6.
Meanwhile, the Bravo Festival continues with another performance by New York Philharmonic Orchestra, also at the Ford Amphitheater. If you go, enjoy the outdoor beauty of Vail by sitting on the grass and enjoying a nice bottle of Chardonnay wine. Not to be outdone, Beaver Creek ofers Peter Frampton at the Vilar Center for Performing Arts on Wednesday, Aug. 12 followed by Michael Bolton on Aug. 20 and then Rick Springfield on August 29. The lineup can't get any better than that.
