Of all the places I've called home, East Vail is the one place that I really miss.? For the alpine enthusiast, East Vail has it all: great hiking, backcountry skiing, ice climbing, mountain biking, fly fishing, kayaking, abundant wildlife, and very little commercial development.
As the gateway to the Vail Valley for most of our car driving visitors,?East Vail?speaks to an earlier time when skiing was about skiing, not about?a "resort".? A-frames and mountain chalets dot the eastern reaches, as?massive pine trees and snow banks provide a true alpine environment.
Take the time to ride your bike along the winding streets, and along Gore Creek on the way to Vail Pass.? Discover one or all of the high altitude lakes that lie at the base of the Gore Range.? Sit in a meadow of wildflowers while your only companion is the wind and the sunshine, and the birds and the deer.? You get the picture.
