The Vail Valley is drier than it has been other winters.? The recent snowfall last week helped out greatly, but the Upper Colorado Basin is approximately 67% of average.? I skied with friends over the weekend, and the snowcats did a great job preserving the foot or so of snow that we got last week.? But the high winds did pull quite a bit of that snow off the mountain.
Forercasters are calling for a wetter than average spring, and we sure hope this comes to pass.? We have had?about 168" at Vail year to date, with 18" of that within the past week.? The mid-mountain base at Vail is 3 feet with Beaver Creek reporting a 42" mid-mountain base.? Vail's closing date is now one week later, closing on 4/22/07, with Beaver Creek closing on 4/15/07.? Let's hope we get some snow!?
